PEOPLE affected by dementia or worried about their memory are being offered the chance to access a new dementia advice service at Dyneley House Surgery in Skipton.

Run by the Alzheimer’s Society following the success of a similar service at Filey Surgery, the dementia advice service will operate two days a month from April, offering access to a dementia support worker who can support people with dementia and their loved ones with any concerns they have.

Sessions will run on the first and third Tuesdays of every month, 10am to 1pm at Dyneley House Surgery, and 30 minute appointments will ensure patients have as much time as they need to chat.

Anne Cook. Alzheimer’s Society dementia support worker, said: “People affected by dementia often don’t know who to talk to about their concerns or know how to access the support that is available to them. This service is about offering an accessible facility locally."

Antony Radley, practice manager at Dyneley House Surgery, said: “Our partners and staff at Dyneley House are committed to providing the highest quality care and best possible outcomes for people living with dementia, their families and carers. We have adapted the practice to make the surroundings more dementia friendly and now - working in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society we will be able to offer our patients with dementia and their carers more face to face support."
