SUTTON schoolchildren travelled to the theatre in nearby Glusburn to perform a classic story from ancient Greece.
The year three and four children from Sutton Community Primary School combined to present Pandora’s Box at Glusburn Institute.
School head Fiona Beetles said there were smiles all round as the youngsters performed in front of a capacity audience.
She said: “The enthusiastic singing was matched by some stunning costumes. We definitely saw stars of the future with very confident performances from our young thespians!
“Memories are made of special evenings like these—thank you to everyone who contributed, in whatever way, to make the evening so special for our children.”
Pandora's Box was a jar in Greek mythology, which was given to Pandora and contained all the evils of the world.
She opened the jar and all the evils flew out, leaving only "Hope" inside once she had closed it again.
Pandora was the first woman on Earth, created on the orders of the Greek god Zeus, and she was endowed with gifts by gods and goddesses like Athena, Aphrodite, Apollo and Hermes.
