CONISTON Hotel and estate is to play host to the world's largest all women clay shooting event.

National Ladies' Shooting Day on June 10 will see 29 clay pigeon shooting events taking place across the country.

And the Coniston Shooting Ground - awarded Premier Plus status from The Clay Pigeon Shooting Association - will be one encouraging women to give the sport a go.

The annual event was started three years ago by Victoria Knowles-Lacks, founder of the UK's largest shooting club for women, the Shotgun and Chelsea Bun Club.

Last year saw more than 1,500 women try the sport out in a safe and social way, meet like minded women and be in with a chance of winning prizes.

"Our events are suitable for women with all levels of experience, so it doesn't matter if you are a complete beginner," said Victoria.

To take part in #NLSD2017, it will cost £42, to include coaching, gun hire, cartridges, clays, ear and eye protection. All those taking part need to do is turn up in comfortable clothing.
