A MODEL railway exhibition at Settle raised £334 for Ingleborough District Scouts funds.

The eveny at Settle Primary School was organised by ex-Assistant District Commissioner Dave Burrows, who has a passion for model railways.

A further £56 was raised for the 1st Castleberg (Settle) Scout Group by former District Cub Scout Leader, Mary Anne Burrows, who served refreshments throughout the day.

Ingleton Cub Scout Leader, Gill Allan, and a Settle Scout judged the exhibits, their favourite being ‘Boggart’s Leap’, a 009 layout made and operated by Mr & Mrs Brian Howarth from Nelson.

The Settle Scout Group Scalectrix layout, which was built and operated by enthusiastic cubs and scouts, also proved popular. The youngster’s hard work earned a further £15 for their Scout Group, which is trying to raise funds to refurbish their headquarters, the Drill Hall, in Castleberg Lane.

Despite the rainy day, the novel event not only successfully raised the public profile of local Scouting but also generated much-needed funds.
