HUNDREDS of bird enthusiasts are expected at Saturday's opening at Malham Cove of the annual Peregrine Falcon viewpoint.

For the 15th year running, the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, together with wildlife charity, the RSPB, will be staging a public viewpoint where people can watch the birds of prey breed and hunt.

Information assistants and a team of volunteers will be on hand from Saturdays to Wednesdays throughout the season to show people the birds through telescopes, and to answer questions.

Interest is expected to be even higher this year after the birds - the world's fastest animals - appeared on television's Yorkshire: A Year in the Wild. The viewing station will not be open on Thursdays and Fridays.
