A NEW accompanist has joined a South Craven based singing group.

Robin Terry is the new accompanist for Cononley Singers, having taken over in January from Damien Oxborough who has moved on to other projects.

Robin comes with a wide experience of accompanying, most recently for Haworth West Lane Musical Society.

Prior to that, he accompanied various groups in the Newcastle area, most notably at the university and Blyth Gilbert and Sullivan Society where he was also musical director.

He has a Master of Music Degree in Composition from Newcastle University and several of his pieces have been performed in the UK and abroad.

Robin originally hails from Barking in East London and started accompanying performances while still at school.

Robin will be accompanying the choir in their busy spring and summer programme which begins on Wednesday with a charity event at Keighley Golf Club, raising money for the Candlelighters.

The following Sunday they will sing at the Palm Sunday service at St John’s Church, Cononley.

This year is 50 years since the 'summer of love' so the programme for Cononley Gala on June 17 and the concerts at Christ Church, Skipton, on July 14 and Cononley Institute on July 15 will contain songs from that famous summer.

Tickets for the summer concerts will be available from Cononley village store from June 19, on the door at Christ Church or from any choir member.
