A 19-YEAR-old woman from Colne has been fined £385 for not clearing up after her dog at Valley Gardens in Barnoldswick.

Pendle Council’s dog warden Laura Robinson and a police constable had been out monitoring the park where there have been problems with inconsiderate dog owners.

When Lauren Dransfield, who was out walking her mother’s dog, was challenged for not clearing up after the pet, she gave a false address.

With help from the police she was successfully tracked down.

Laura said: “We issued her with a fixed penalty notice for £75 which she failed to pay.

“She also failed to turn up for her court appearance at Burnley Magistrates’ Court where she was fined £385 in her absence which she has to pay within 28 days.

“We take a tough line with selfish people who don’t clean up after their dogs and we have major issues with dog fouling at Valley Gardens,” Laura explained.

“This court case shows that we can and do prosecute the offenders,” she said.
