A NUMBER of Easter events will be taking place across Craven this weekend and over the school holidays.

 

The Woodland Trust has enlisted the help of Chocolate and Truffles, a chocolate maker on Skipton High Street, to make 250 chocolate treats for children attending the Skipton Castle Woods Easter egg hunt from 10am to 4pm on Saturday.

 

The handmade chocolate bars will celebrate spring by featuring the names of wildlife and trees common to Skipton Castle Woods, including wild garlic and bluebells.

The Bolton Abbey Estate will run an Easter egg hunt every day until Sunday, April 23, and the Easter Bunny will be making appearances from Good Friday to Easter Monday.

 

Children and their families can follow the extra-large sparkling eggs hung along the trail from the trees through Strid Wood, and along the way look out for the Easter Bunny's friends who hold the clues to help crack the Easter code.

 

This is a free event but the estate’s admission of £10 per vehicle will apply.

 

Park in Riverside car park near the Cavendish Pavilion and collect a free trail form from the car park kiosk on arrival. The trail is open from 9am to 5pm.

 

Kilnsey Park Estate is holding Easter in the Dales events until Sunday, April 23.

 

There will be an Easter egg hunt and animal feeding every day of the school holidays and special Easter weekend activities, including campfires, egg decorating and rolling, plastic duck racing and crafts, will be taking place from Good Friday to Easter Monday.

 

On Sunday and Easter Monday, the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway will host Peppa Pig, who will be making appearances at various intervals at Bolton Abbey Station on both days.

 

Thornton Hall Farm Park in Thornton-in-Craven will give visitors a chance to meet Peter Rabbit on Easter Monday.

 

There will be a Easter egg hunt plus a free Easter egg for every (paying) child.

 

The farm is open from 10am and tickets cost £8 for children and £7 for adults.

 

On Saturday and Easter Sunday, there will be an Easter trail in Carleton-in-Craven.

 

Children and their families can follow the Easter-themed treasure hunt around the village.

 

Sheets, which cost £1, are available from the shop, pub and village hall from 9am to 4pm both days.

 

Then on Monday there will be a Easter big breakfast served in Carleton Village Hall from 9am to 11am.

 

A full English breakfast costing just £2 will be served up by the Carleton Community Umbrella. Vegetarian and gluten free options will be available.

 

In Ingleton, there will be an Easter prize bingo taking place tonight from 7.30pm in Ingleborough Community Centre.
