ALICE Halstead will share her journey of dealing with a life-threatening form of diabetes at a charity luncheon at the Rendezvous Hotel, Skipton.

Alice, 26, of Embsay, will be joined by her medical detection dog Holly on Wednesday, April 26, to tell of the seven years in which her life was turned upside down when diagnosed with a unique form of diabetes.

It meant hospital became her home for three and a half years and normal everyday living came to a sudden halt.

In December 2010, after a long four year battle of constant intervention by medical staff and numerous immuno suppression treatments to try and stabilise her condition, she was discharged.

The event is organised by Petal, a Skipton based group raising money for childhood cancer.
