BARNOLDSWICK is gearing up for its annual St George’s Day event on Saturday.

The family friendly affair will see the town all decked out with flags of St George and shop windows with special window displays.

This year, the day will see the town square filled with entertainers including local performers, dance groups, community choir Border Harmony and Barnoldswick Brass Band.

Families will be able get ‘hands on’ with the ever popular reptile stall, and there will be displays of owls and birds of prey.

Organisers are also including free donkey rides in a preview of August’s Barnoldswick Beach and the day will see the launch of this year’s Bands On The Square line up, which is held at the Spring Bank Holiday weekend.

Barnoldswick in Bloom will be building ‘bug hotels’ as part of the event and hope to encourage 'dragonflies' as part of their pollinator friendly wildlife gardening.

In addition to the regular Saturday market, charities will be taking part with stalls at the event, and fairground rides are being provided by Marshall Waddington.
