POLICE have named the man killed in an accident on the road between Ingleton and Hawes near White Scar Caves on April 9.

Rade Brkovic, 74, was from the Keighley area. He was driving a red MG, which was one of three cars involved in the collision.

Mr Brkovic died at the scene of the 11.30am crash. His female passenger, aged 70, was seriously injured and was taken to hospital in Preston for treatment. The other two other drivers received minor injuries.

Police appealed for witnesses after the accident, which left the B6255 closed for ten hours.

Police at the time said a silver Vauxhall Vectra travelling towards Ingleton collided with two vehicles – a red MG and a silver Volkswagen Jetta – travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Vectra, a 30-year-old man from the Lancashire area, sustained slight injuries and was arrested at the scene of the collision. He was later released without bail while under investigation.

Officers were particularly keen to talk to the occupants of a black car seen just before the crash, which they believed might have contained important witnesses.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option two and ask for the Major Collision Investigation Team, or email MCIT@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
