A SWIMMING club is the latest to benefit from Settle Rotarians annual Christmas fundraising.

Settle Stingrays, a competitive swimming club for seven to 17 year olds, received new equipment and a contribution towards the cost of entering a gala in Leeds in June.

Iain Crossley, chairman of Settle Stingrays said: "We are very grateful to the Rotary Club who have provided us with individual water bottles and also made a contribution to our costs in attending the next Gala in Leeds on June 17. We are a young club and we coach and cater for many youngsters who are keen to take part in swimming events.”

The club meets at both Giggleswick Swimming Pool and at Settle Area Swimming Pool.

Every year, Settle Rotary Club takes its festive sleigh to Settle and surrounding villages collecting money for good causes.

It has also made donations to Austwick Meals on Wheels, Settle Mothers’ Union, Cantores Salicium, Kirkby Malham Hall, Clark’s Old School in Wigglesworth and Austwick Primary School for their library, as well as individuals.

Rotary president John Diggles said: "It is interesting to note the wide variety of organisations and individuals we support over the year. It is only right that we should put the money back into the community, which is so generously given at Christmas. It all goes back as we have no overheads."

Mr Diggles said the club was always on the look out for people or groups to support and urged them to contact them through the Settle Rotary Club website.

Cases will be reviewed on their individual circumstances and on the club's finances.
