A GROUP of Scandinavian musicians and dancers will perform a concert of traditional Norwegian fiddle music in Victoria Hall, Settle, on Sunday.

They are here at the invitation of Scandimoot, which holds its annual weekend of Scandinavian music and dance in Clapham and Settle, and draws visitors from all over the UK and further.

Enthusiasts at this residential event will be working hard to ‘get’ the subtle rhythms of the music into their fingers and feet.

But the highlight is the concert at 8pm on Sunday in Settle.

The visiting artists this year are mostly from Norway, and all are fiddle players.

They are Hans and Rasmus Kjorstad from Gudbrandsdal, Jo Einer Jansen and dance teachers Vegar and Mette Vårdal also from Norway, and award winning fiddler and singer Rowan Rheingans from the UK.

There is also a concert at 8pm on Monday in Melling Institute. Doors open 7.30pm.

This will be a collaboration between Hans and Rasmus Kjorstad and local musician Maja Bugge.

Tickets for Victoria Hall cost £10, £7 concessions, £4.50 for under 18s and free for under 12s and are available on the door or from the box office or 01729 825718.

Entry to the Melling concert costs £8, £6 concessions with under 12s free.

Pay on the door and places can be reserved via bookings@scandimoot.org.uk or 07527 508340.
