A SPECIAL police officer from Steeton has sung as part of a remote-recording to raise money following the killing of PC Keith Palmer at Westminster last month.

Sergeant Debbie Wood is the only police officer in the North Yorkshire force to contribute her voice to the song We Stand Together The Thin Blue Line.

It was produced in aid of the charity C.O.P.S – Care of Police Survivors – which helps families of officers who have lost their lives on duty.

PC Palmer was killed protecting Parliament by knifeman Khalid Masood, who killed four other people and injured 50 after ramming pedestrians with a car on Westminster Bridge. He was shot dead.

The song is expected to be featured on the BBC Crimewatch programme later this summer.

Debbie, 50, said: “I’m really proud to have taken part and the song is so catchy.

"I’ve been walking around the house singing it for weeks.

“I volunteered to take part and the lyrics and tune were e-mailed to me and I sang it and returned it as quickly as possible.”

The single was originally conceived last year, but following PC Palmer’s death, it was decided to release it on the day of his funeral as a tribute.

We Stand Together The Thin Blue is available to download from iTunes, Google Play and Amazon.
