NOBODY can hold a candle to Caoimhe Ramsden’s fundraising efforts for fellow nursery and reception pupils in Glusburn.

Caroimhe, from class two at Glusburn Community Primary School, made candles to sell at an arts and crafts fair at Sutton Village Hall.

Accompanied by her mother, grandmother and big sister Neve, she raised £12 for the school’s Foundation Stage Unit.

After proudly handing the money to teachers on the Monday, she went on to raise at least another £10 through selling the candles.

School head Richard Hunt said: “Caoimhe was extremely proud that she raised so much money. It was a very kind gesture and we are all very proud of her.

“We are yet to decide what we will spend the money on.”

Glusburn Community Primary School is publicising the local St John Ambulance Badger unit for children aged seven to nine year olds, which it said taught to children to save lives.
