FIREFIGHTERS tackled a skip fire in Barnoldswick.

The householder was concerned the fire would spread to the house in York Street.

Two fire engines were sent to the scene at around 1am on Tuesday.

A spokesman for the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The contents of a skip at the rear of a house were on fire and the householder was concerned the fire was likely to spread to the house.

“Two fire engines and crews from Barnoldswick and Earby responded and firefighters used a hosereel jet to extinguish the fire, the cause of which is to be established.

“No-one was injured.”
