A FOOD bank in Skipton organised and run by the members of the town's Baptist Church has a new drop-off point.

Skipton Funeral Directors, at the Lodge, Waltonwrays, Carleton Road, will now take in food donations to help those in need.

It joins other drop-off points in Skipton at Craven District Council's Belle Vue offices, Tesco, Dyneley House Surgery, the Children's Centre on Brougham Street, Wonder in Wood on Otley St, the Community Hub at Belmont Bridge, Magpie in Albion Square and the Craven Volunteer Centre, also on Otley Street.

Skipton Funeral Directors' Louise Worth said: "Skipton Funeral Directors is an ideal location to be used as a drop-off point due to its proximity to the local housing estate, free outside parking and its location on a busy route to Skipton and the local village of Carleton. Our offices are open 10am-3pm, Monday to Friday, to accept donations.”

Skipton Food Bank was established by Skipton Baptist Church in 2012. Food parcels are distributed through support agencies including North Yorkshire Social Services, Skipton and Craven Children’s Centres and others.

The food bank receives donations from across Craven and is supported by church communities, several schools and some businesses.
