Institute News: This week’s Sunday Teas will be provided by Giggleswick Parish Church. The Teas run by village residents will run through July and August, apart from August 20 when Settle Amateur Operatic Society will be in charge as it is the weekend of the Village Show. The Sunday Teas are the largest fundraiser for the Institute. To serve teas for eight weeks to support the Institute there needs to be four ‘Teams’; each one baking, serving and clearing up on two Sundays. This was hard to achieve in 2016 and team leaders had to do a lot of extra baking to ‘fill the gap’. If there are fewer teams this year the Institute’s income will be cut severely. If anyone can help in any way either by baking or serving, as a team member or as a ‘reserve’, please let a member of the Institute Committee know by tomorrow, Friday, when the rota is drawn up.Either fill in the form distributed to all households or contact Eric or Sue on 822114. The Institute committee would like to thank all those who have helped in the past and hope that they will continue to support this vital village amenity.

Show News: Show secretary Ian Johnson is busy collating the schedule. If stewards have not submitted the classes and the names of the judges for their categories please do so without delay. The next meeting for the show is on Sunday, May 21, at 4pm in the Institute. The final deadline for this information is this meeting. As soon as a virtual copy of the schedule is available it will be posted on the village website langcliffeonline.net.
