A NUMBER of events in Barnoldswick and Earby have raised nearly £1,000 for Christian Aid.

The West Craven Christian Aid Group wishes to thank everyone who contributed to this year’s Christian Aid Week appeal.

The street collection raised £489, with £285 collected in Barnoldswick and £204 in Earby.

In Barnoldswick, Pat George stationed a suitably decorated camper van in St Andrew’s Methodist Church car park to receive the full collecting tins.

Two enjoyable Big Brekkies also raised a tidy sum for the charity.

Pat and Vincent George’s efforts raised £222 in Barnoldswick, and in Earby Doris Haigh and the 1st Earby Scouts brought in £185, with help including from Claire from Just ask Jess.

The West Craven also thanked Earby businesses who donated items, including the Village Bakery, Water Street Fruit and Veg shop, the Quality Fish Bar, the Co-op and the Punchbowl.

St Peter’s Methodist Church lunch raised £40, and the £16 from the Earby Churches Together Thursday coffee morning was given to Christian Aid too.

So in total £952 was raised with the envelopes from churches still to come.
