FAMILIES are being invited to take part in The Great Get Together at Barnoldswick’s annual Valley Garden’s Summer Fair this Saturday.
The event, which raises money to look after the park, has been arranged as one of thousands of 'Get Togethers' being held to celebrate what unites the UK as a country.
The national weekend of events is being held in memory of murdered MP Jo Cox, who in her first speech told Parliament “We are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us.”
Barnoldswick’s event is being organised by the town’s bloom group and town council.
Beginning at noon, the fair will have many free, family friendly activities throughout the afternoon including donkey rides, magic shows, Punch and Judy, craft activities and ‘hands on’ community planting.
Visitors are invited to donate to Barnoldswick in Bloom towards projects in the gardens.
A highlight of the afternoon will be the duck race at 3.15pm. Ducks are on sale from bloom volunteers before the day and at the event itself.
Food and refreshments available at the event includes Barnoldswick’s world champion cheese and onion pie.
Bloom member David Whipp said: “We hope lots of people will support the bloom group and Valley Gardens by taking part in this Great Get Together event.”
