CELEBRATING the diversity in Craven through conversations, animation, food, music and song will take place in four venues across Skipton on Tuesday.

Celebrate Craven, which has been made possible by a £8,550 grant from the Big Lottery Fund, is being staged by the Craven Development Education Centre (DEC).

The free daytime event will feature a Human Library, where some of Craven’s interesting and diverse characters will be on loan as 'living books', talking informally about their lives and reflecting on the impact their experiences have had on them.

The Human Library event takes place from 10am to 3pm in four venues across Skipton including Holy Trinity Church, Skipton Library, the Amphitheatre in Albion Place and Skipton Town Hall.

The talks by the 20 'living books' will be a arranged in half-hour slots with an hour break for lunch at noon.

There will also be a preview of Virpi Kettu’s new animation ‘Dogs Dales’ in Skipton Library.

For the evening’s entertainment, tickets cost £5 and include taster plates of food from Eastern Europe, Yorkshire and Pakistan.

The talents of Craven will be on display from 7.30pm to 10.30pm in Skipton Town Hall as Dales Jam, Sheeptown Songsters, Skipton Community Orchestra, St Mary’s Embsay Band and Skipton Ukulele Club will perform live.
