STUDENTS are preparing a day of eco-friendly fun at Skipton Girls’ High School on Saturday (July 15).
The Friends of SGHS has been working with the school’s Eco Committee to create a summer festival which will feature sculptures from recycled materials, including a life-size elephant made from bottles.
Other activities will include a ‘Ready Steady Cook’ challenge, build your own bird box and eco-trail.
Traditional summer fair stalls such as tombola, games and crafts will also be at the school between 11am and 3pm. Refreshments include home-made cakes, glasses of Pimms and a lunchtime barbeque, and live music will be performed by the students.
The friends group reached its target of £5,000 in its first year to improve the school library and now aims to raise another £5,000 towards sports equipment.Friends of SGHS secretary Rachel Knight said: “This is a free all-inclusive event with something for everyone and we hope people will enjoy the eco-activities.”
