YOUNG Glusburn cricketers are certainly not on a sticky wicket.

Pupils of Glusburn Community Primary School has scored success in their second critical success of the summer.

And older students, at Parkside School in Cullingworth, have also been successful after taking up their bats against other schools.

The Glusburn team were crowned Champions of Craven this month (June) while representing the Craven district in the Craven wide finals.

Head Richard Hunt said: “The team competed against Threshfield, Water Street and Rathmell, winning all three matches and scoring over 800 runs."

The team won a place in the North Yorkshire finals, which were due to be held this week in York, representing the whole of Craven.

The team were Alex Mortimer, Matthew Boast, Stanley Llloyd, Jack Hardaker, Noah Smith, Austin Dyson, Freddie Pickles and Zach Filkin.

Cricketers from Glusburn Community Primary School recently played against teams from other primary schools in the year 3/4 Area Cricket Festival at South Craven School in Cross Hills.

Parkside School’s under-13 cricket team this month played BBG Academy in the third round of the Yorkshire Schools Cricket Cup, and will never match.

PE teacher Ben Miller said: "We are now through to the fourth round and we are only two more victories away from playing in the final at Headingley.”

The year eight boys are Charley Alvey, Aizak Andrews, Jacob Terry and Bailey Moulds, and the year seven boys are Jack Peel, Jacob Crossland, Euan Cameron, Isaac Andrews, Connor Ferguson, Zach Wheatley and Harris Almond.
