THIS year Kelbrook Ladies Guild is celebrating its 40th anniversary, having started in 1977.

Over the years the group has raised over £40,000 to donate to various charities, the latest event being an afternoon tea which raised £870 for Epilepsy Research UK.

To celebrate this milestone, the current members enjoyed a two-day visit to Liverpool, taking in the sights and having an anniversary meal in the historic White Star Line building.

They also held an afternoon tea in Kelbrook and Sough Village Hall on Sunday, to which all past and present members were invited.

The event featured a display of photos and memorabilia from over the 40 years and the original chairman, Gill Hall, and the present chairman, Linda Macsween, cut the anniversary cake.

Members are looking forward to many more community fundraising and social activities.

One of these, a summer afternoon tea event held in early July, included homemade sandwiches, cream scones and cakes, which were enjoyed by over 100 visitors who packed Kelbrook Village Hall.

A variety of plants and garden ephemera were also sold and there was a raffle, a garden themed tombola stall and a children's pot a plant activity.
