WORK to improve benches on Kelbrook Road in Barnoldswick is being carried out.
Councillor David Whipp said: "Last year, Barnoldswick Town Council took over responsibility for looking after roadside seats from Pendle Council.
"The town council created a small budget for work on the benches, with a view to repairing or renewing the seats through an annual programme of refurbishment.
"Work has just started to spruce up four bench bays on Kelbrook Road. Walls are being repointed and flags replaced or re-laid. The bays have already been powerwashed.
He also said existing benches are to be replaced with new ones, with the old ones done up for re-use elsewhere.
New litter bins will also be installed in the three bays without one.
