Residents from a Craven care home got to meet seven new babies as staff on maternity leave brought them in for a baby day.

Staff and older people living at Anchor’s Thornton Hill on Church Road in Thornton in Craven got together for a fun afternoon to meet the new arrivals.

Seven members of staff have had babies within the last six months and the residents couldn’t wait to meet them all.

Home manager Debbie Marples said “The residents have really missed some of the staff so they were looking forward to catching up with them and were really excited about meeting their new editions.

“They had so much fun holding the babies and they certainly hadn’t lost their mothering qualities.  They enjoyed the afternoon so much I don’t think they wanted to hand the babies back”

Deputy manager Nicola Haines added “The babies were all really well behaved and as everyone had so much fun we’re already planning our next baby day.  It’s going to be great seeing all of the babies grow up and our residents will be able to enjoy that experience as well.  Whenever we do intergenerational work in the home it’s amazing how well the residents and the children get on and it really brightens their day”
