FOLLOWING on from its appearance at this year's Glastonbury Festival, the Black Dyke Band will be performing in Skipton this autumn.

Skipton Rotary Club’s new president Mark Ludlam, has made fund raising for charities one of his principle aims this year and the first major opportunity is the world famous Black Dyke Band concert due to take place in Skipton Town Hall on October 26.

The Queensbury band’s fame has grown way beyond Yorkshire with tickets bookings already received from visitors from Australia.

Its recent performance on the iconic Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival in June has also sealed its position amongst the tops bands in the country.

All proceeds will go towards Rotary charities including Purple4Polio, a campaign started by Rotary more than 30 years ago to eradicate the crippling disease.

The number of polio-endemic countries has dropped from 125 to just three, with more than 2.5 billion children receiving vaccinations thanks to the help of Rotary.

"The concert will be fantastic – and an ideal way to raise valuable funds for such a worthwhile cause" said Mr Ludlam.

Tickets for the concert, at 7.30pm on Thursday, October, 26, are available from Carling Jones, Chartered Surveyors, 68 High Street, Skipton, telephone 01756 799163 or by post through the Rotary Club website: skiptonrotary.org or by email to ian.carling@skiptonrotary.org
