ONE of Craven's most well-known entertainers is to auction his own painting to boost Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association.

Grassington resident Maurice Lee - better known as Maurice Grumbleweed - has painted a framed watercolour of the town's main square during the annual 1940s weekend.

It is currently on display in Annie and Betty's Vintage Tea Rooms in the square and will be auctioned by sealed bids from Friday, September 1.

Bids can be made up to 4pm on Saturday, September 16, at the Flower Loft in Garrs Lane, Grassington. The highest bidder for the painting will be revealed at the Big Band Dance in the Town Hall, also on September 16.
