WEST Craven Sports Centre in Barnoldswick will celebrate its 20th anniversary.

To mark the occasion of the original public pool becoming a sports centre – when it was officially opened by Bobby Charlton on August 23, 1997 - the Barnoldswick sports centre is throwing open its doors and inviting everyone to see what it has to offer.

An open day is being held between 10am and 1.30pm this Sunday with fun for all the family.

There will be class demonstrations, come and try sessions, training and nutrition advice, a bouncy castle and soft play area, giveaways, half price swims, a pool inflatable and everyone who attends will be entered in to a free prize draw.

Visitors can join in a fitness class, play badminton or try Tai Chi, and there will be Rugby Tots and Turtle Tots for the youngsters to sample.

Sam Bowden, assistant manager at West Craven Sports Centre, said: “We are delighted to have reached this milestone and feel we have come a long way since the centre was opened 20 years ago.

“We want to acknowledge this momentous occasion by showcasing our facilities and activities and invite everyone to come along and join in the fun.”
