AFTER a washout in east Lancashire and the Dales, Settle remain over 30 points ahead of their nearest rivals, Barnoldswick, Whalley and Read in the Ribblesdale League Senior League title race.
Although the Yorkshiremen have been in the lead all year, they cannot afford to relax with four matches to play, especially as they travel to Read on Saturday.
This team has been Settle’s nemesis all season, being the only side to beat them in both the league and the Ramsbottom Cup. It will be even more interesting the following week when Settle entertain Barnoldswick and the title could well be decided.
Tom Strickland's side also have an important home game against Barnoldswick on September 2, before an way trip to Salesbury and a home fixture with Euxton which rounds off their programme.
The Marshfield side will also have their hands full in a day of action this Sunday when the 20/20 finals come to Settle.
This flagship event features the first semi-final at 10am between Barnoldswick and Salesbury, while the second match at 1pm pits Settle against Whalley.
Then the two finalists clash at 4pm to complete a full day of entertaining big hitting.
After disappointment in the league and cup double, the home crowd will hope their men can double up in another way with the 20/20 crown and the league championship.
