RAIL passengers on the Airedale line face more disruption as union members stage the latest in a series of strikes.

The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union is planning another walkout – on Friday, September 1 and Monday, September 4 – in a long-running dispute over the axing of guards on trains.

Operator Northern says only a limited service will run both days.

"The majority of available trains will operate between 9am and 5pm but during these hours the number running will be significantly reduced and we expect the trains and any replacement buses to be extremely busy," said a spokesman.

"Our priority is to keep passengers informed, updated and on the move and we are working hard to make this happen.

"Please check before you travel as timetables are subject to change.

"If you do travel and experience a delay of 30 minutes or more, you are eligible to compensation. Customers with season tickets who decide not to travel due to the strike action can also claim compensation, through the 'delay repay' scheme."
