Employees of the Barnoldswick site are being given a rare opportunity to share with their immediate families a glimpse of what happens behinds the scenes at the Barnoldswick facility.

It has been over ten years since the factory opened its doors to the public and on this occasion sadly due to capacity restrictions the invitation is not open to the general public and is limited to employees only.

The mayor and mayoress of Pendle have been invited to officially start the first tour at 10am.

The local community, however, are invited to join in the celebrations and activities taking place at the Rolls-Royce Leisure Club and on the sports fields.

On display in the ground of the club will be a magnificent Spitfire that visitors can have their photograph taken next to, along with a Merlin engine. Further engines will also be on display along with a selection of Rolls-Royce motor cars.

As guests pass through the Time Tunnel, there will be an opportunity to discover and follow the fascinating history of Rolls-Royce in Barnoldswick and the impact it has had on the town.

On the sports fields children will be entertained too, with activities ranging from traditional carnival attractions including Hook a Duck, Coconut Shy and bouncy castle to a Mad Science marquee where they can take part in exciting experiments.

Food will be available to buy from both the Rolls-Royce Leisure Club and catering outlets on the sports field. Visitors in the afternoon will be entertained by Barnoldswick Brass Band.

The event will run from 10am to 4pm and for this duration, to safeguard the large number of pedestrians expected to attend this event, Rolls-Royce has organised for a section of Skipton Road to be closed.

This will extend from the junction with Coates Avenue and the junction with Valley Drive. Vehicles will be diverted via Coates Lane and Valley Drive.

Provision for access has been made for residents on Skipton Road and also emergency vehicles.
