VILLAGERS in Cononley have a chance to take the weight off their feet for a while thanks to the fundraising efforts of members of Cononley Women's Institute.
The group has helped to raise cash for a new bench for the village with a coffee morning and other events, while a donation has also been made by North Yorkshire County Council. The seat has been installed by employees of firm Holgate Engineering between the village post office and bus stop.
The project was started by resident Martin Lougee, who thought villagers needed a new bench.
Pictured with the bench are WI members, from left, Fiona Mashiter, Janet Clifford, Joan Banks, Ruth Evans and president Elizabeth Calvert.
Cononley WI meets on the first Thursday of the month, at 7.30pm in Cononley Village Institute.
