AROUND 40 businesses in Skipton have already signed up to a 'trail' around the town which it is hoped will point food-lovers in the right direction.

The town's first-ever 'food trail' was launched for the Yorkshire Dales Food and Drink Festival.

The scheme is supported by Skipton BID and is open to all food, drink or food-related retailers who pay a levy to the group.

The annual trail is published in the Yorkshire Dale Food and Drink Festival Guide, online and is also featured on various social media platforms.

This year’s Yorkshire Dales Food and Drink Festival saw a record number of visitors in Skipton.

Copies of the trail map and stickers for establishments featured are available.

Rachel Higgins of the Food and Drink Festival said: "Skipton is an amazing market town with lots of great foodie establishments and we came up with the idea of a ‘foodies trail’ to really promote local businesses and encourage customers to come and visit Skipton throughout the year. We want to put Skipton on the map as a foodie destination in Yorkshire."
