A GROUP of young Skipton people on a government sponsored National Citizenship Scheme raised £2,045 for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.
During the three week project, the Skipton group spent one week on a team building exercise at Condover Hall, Shrewsbury.
They spent another week at Leeds University where they learned new skills and planned what they would do in their final week to make an impact on their community.
Their final week was taken up in a series of fundraising events including a bake sale in Ilkley Co-op, bag packing at Skipton Tesco, and a sponsored circular walk from Skipton to Draughton.
At the end of the scheme, they went to the Oxenhope hospice to present the results of their fundraising.
Manorlands senior fundraiser Hayley Ibbotson thanked the young people and said: “This team are a credit to themselves and to the National Citizenship Scheme organisation. They spent a week as ambassadors of the hospice and have been hugely professional.”
