THE landlady at The Fountain Inn in Barnoldswick is hanging up her beer mats after the pub changed hands at the beginning of September.

Landlady Carol Boothman is leaving following the sale of the pub, which she re-opened five years ago after it had been empty for many years.

Carol celebrated her five years as landlady with live music all afternoon on Sunday, continuing support The Fountain has shown to local musical talent since it re-opened in 2012.

Carol said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported The Fountain during my time there. I’ve made some lifelong friends, both staff and patrons, and I’ll miss spending time with them every day. I won’t miss the early mornings or very late nights through!”

“I’ve had a brilliant five years at The Fountain, and even longer if you include the time involved in the renovations to the building after I bought it. We gutted the pub to make room for the restaurant, bar and nine guest bedrooms after it had been empty for a number of years. The cow wallpaper and grass dancefloor are two of my favourite parts of the pub, and I’ll miss dancing with all the patrons on Thursday music nights.”

The rest of The Fountain staff will stay on behind the bar and in the kitchen.
