A LAW firm is celebrating a milestone.

John J Halliwell & Co Solicitors has clocked-up its 40th anniversary.

The company opened for business at Cross Hills in the summer of 1977, the same year the Queen celebrated her silver jubilee.

And a year later it expanded its services, with the launch of a branch at Silsden.

The firm marked its landmark achievement with a gathering at The Dog & Gun, Glusburn.

Joining Mr Halliwell at the event were current and former employees, including Edie Dexter, who worked for the company for 28 years before her retirement.

Continuing the family line is Mr Halliwell’s younger son, Simon, who became part of the practice five years ago after working in the City of London.

The practice now comprises four solicitors, a conveyancing executive and a financial business manager and operates solely from Silsden.
