SKIPTON’S Auction Mart will be transformed into a haven for lovers of all things woolly this weekend.

Held over two days, Yarndale brings together more than 180 talented exhibitors keen to share their passion.

Now in it’s fifth year, Yarndale has quickly established itself as a must-visit event for yarn enthusiasts from all over the UK, as well as abroad.

More than 7,000 visitors are expected to flock to the town during the weekend to enjoy the festival, making it a great success for both exhibitors and visitors alike.

The festival is designed to encourage the sharing of skills and inspire visitors to celebrate all things handmade and get creative with yarn.

A spokesman said: "Our aim is to create a little slice of woolly paradise – we really want to see those creative sparks flying!

"Artisans and retailers of the highest quality are selected to exhibit at Yarndale, which makes it very inspiring for anyone with a love of yarn.

"We encourage you to chat to the exhibitors, get thoroughly inspired and fill your bag with yarn goodies to take home. We very much look forward to welcoming you."

Throughout the weekend, visitors can try their hand at all sorts of textile-based skills in the workshop theatre. Led by a group of talented and experienced local artists, there will be an exciting programme of creative events again this year.

Yarndale has become well known for it’s exuberant creative displays. Visitors can walk under a whole ceiling decked out with more than a kilometre of colourful woolly bunting, or gaze at a stunning display of more than a thousand crocheted mandalas. Described as 'magical', these stunning creative displays are a heart-warming visual celebration of colour, community and creativity.

Opening times are 10am to 5.30pm on Saturday and 10am to 4.30pm Sunday. Day tickets are priced £8, or you can pick up a weekend pass for £14. Visit yarndale.co.uk for more details.
