FESTIVALGOERS are being urged to look beyond the headline attractions at Fallfest, says its director.

The Saturday evening performance by Brit Award-winning singer-songwriter Beverley Craven is expected to sell out just like previous flagship concerts.

But Fallfest director Sue Ingham said there were plenty of other attractions to delight a wide range of tastes.

She outlined the fun on offer over three days from Friday to Sunday September 22 to 24, in and around Glusburn Institute, the village’s arts and community centre.

Sue said: “Our headliners are always a sell-out, but we have so much more on offer over the three days. We are constantly trying to ring the changes at Fallfest.

“To this end 2017 will see an expansion of the adult Trail Race introduced last year, to include a junior event. For the less athletic, we are introducing the Fallfest Beer and GinFest. .”

Sue, an ex-teacher at South Craven School, launched Fallfest seven years ago to fill the void left by the demise of local community events.

Headliner Beverley Craven sprang to fame in the early 90s with her hit single Promise Me and followed it with chart successes including Memories, Holding On, Woman To Woman and Love Scenes.

Friday evening will see Falling Stars Theatre Company’s production of Jim Cartwright’s acclaimed play Two, performed by Teona Mae Gott and Colin Sykes and directed by Rebecca Durham.

Set in a typical northern pub, the bittersweet play offers a snapshot of the local community through the eyes and stories of the pub regulars. Expect belly laughs and tears. There will also be a matinee performance on the Sunday.

Saturday daytime sees an enlarged Farmers’ Market, along with the second Fallfest Five Trail Race organised by Brett Weeden of Keighley and Craven Athletics Club.

Enlivening the afternoon activities will be Skipton choir Rock Up & Sing with a repertoire of modern-day rock and pop music, and the Amore School of Dance.

They will be joined by Fiddle ‘n’ Feet, a mixed Appalachian dance team who promise traditional high-energy dance and well-known old-time and bluegrass fiddle tunes.

Fallfest is also holding its first beer and gin festival, run by Haworth Beer Festival organiser Kath Thornton, with exclusive gins and over 18 craft beers.

The session times are Friday 8pm to 11pm, Saturday noon to 5.30pm and Sunday 1pmto 5pm.
