TESTS of strength for both men and women drew the crowds to the annual Littondale Fete.

Many hardy souls braved the mixed weather to support the family event, which raised an impressive £2, 180 for village hall funds.

Musical entertainment was provided by Skipton Brass Band, and there were hotdogs and ice cream for sale on the village green. Inside the town hall, there were also homemade cakes, a menagerie of animals from Hart Farm and a variety of games to play.

The Littondale ‘4’ Road Race winners were James Hall (Wharfedale Harriers) and first lady, for the third time in a row, Jo Buckley (Bingley Harriers). Mike Critchley (Hawkswick) was first local gentleman and Hannah Rayner (Arncliffe), first local lady.

The Senior Fell race was won for the tenth time by Ted Mason from Appletreewick, who took part after cycling up to Arncliffe in the morning; while first lady was Lucy Haines.

The strong man and woman contests provided great entertainment with a double success for the Charnley family; David Charnley and Adam Mason won for the men and Charlotte Charnley and Clare Penter won the ladies competition. Meanwhile the fancy dress competition was won jointly by Jonty Charnley and Henry Rayner. Surely the youngest entrant at just three months, Stanley Bell was joined by Jonty Charnley, Scarlett Charnley, Molly Miller, Bea Miller, Henry Rayner, Kitty Ward-Dooley, Lila Mae Cowperthwaite, Hannah Penter, Thomas Charnley and Rebecca Ward who all enjoyed success in the various handicrafts competitions.

The winners of the inaugural Cani-orienteering challenge (as seen on BBC2 Me and My Dog and hosted by Bodger and Badger) were Phil Sheard and Ronnie.
