FOLLOWING their performance in York Minster earlier in the year, Settle-based singing group Octameron will be setting their sights closer to home over the coming weeks, performing a series of fundraising concerts in the area.

Octameron will be at Downham Village Hall at 7.30pm this Saturday to perform A Musical Miscellany featuring songs from the shows.

There will be popular favourites from shows such as Les Miserables, Mamma Mia! and West Side Story.

Tickets cost £8 including light refreshments and are available from Barbara on 01200 440925, Platform Gallery, Information Clitheroe, Roy Porter Butchers, Chatburn, and Philippa on 01200 441484.

On Sunday evening, Octameron will be back in Yorkshire, when they take part in the closing event of Langcliffe Village's Angel Festival, which will take place in Langcliffe Church.

The evening will start at 6.45pm with a glass of wine, followed at 7pm by a 45-minute concert featuring a varied selection of songs, including one or two angel-themed numbers.

More wine and nibbles will be available after the concert, and there will be a final chance to see the angel exhibition in the church. Tickets cost £5.

A week later, on Saturday, October 7, Octameron will be in concert again, this time at Austwick Parish Church.

Autumn Serenade will be classic Octameron fare, showcasing the group's versatility and ability to provide something to suit everyone's taste. The programme will range from Gabrielli to Abba via Bruckner and Cole Porter.

Tickets, which include wine and nibbles, cost £10 each, £5 for under 16s, and are available from Pam Smith on 015242 51318, Pip Rigby on 015242 51422 and Ann Dyson on 015242 51661.
