A LARGE lorry was stuck at a junction after taking a wrong turn and had to be helped by police.

The incident happened at traffic lights in Rainhall Road in Barnoldswick at around 7.35pm yesterday.

Officers discovered the load when they were driving in the area and then helped to lift the trailer and direct the lorry driver to let him drive away.

It was stuck for approximately 15 minutes.

A police spokesman said: "The vehicle had gone the wrong way and the police knew absolutely nothing about the load whatsoever until we happened across it.

"The load had to be lifted above the railings on one side in order to take the corner."
