THE wildlife to be found in drystone walls will be the subject of a talk to the Upper Wharfedale Field Society on Monday, October 23.

Naturalist, Michael Pearson, who has been studying the history of walls in the dales for the last three years, will give his talk at the Devonshire Institute, Grassington to both members of the society, and non members.

He last spoke to the society a year ago when he gave a short introduction to the ecology of dales' walls.

This time, he will be setting out to show that far from being devoid of life, the walls are home to many different types of plants and animals.

In his illustrated talk Michael will give an update on the progress of his project and explore the many ways wildlife has adapted to this poorly understood habitat and the importance of conserving this iconic feature of the landscape.

The talk will take place from 7.30pm in the Main Hall of the Devonshire Institute. Free to members and £3 for others, including light refreshments.
