A DRAMATIC piece of video showing the moments a quad biker rolled out of control down a steep incline of about 25 metres was caught on film by the Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation.

The rider was fortunate that a cave rescue rescue volunteer going to another incident nearby happened to be in the right spot at the right time.

The volunteer was on his way to the aid of a schoolgirl who had fainted while out walking near Ingleborough .

As he got out of the Cave Rescue Organisation Land Rover to open a gate near Ingleborough Cave at around 3.30pm, a quad bike rolled down the steep hill behind him.

He reported it on his radio and was joined by another colleague, who had also been involved in the earlier incident with the school group.

The rider, who was injured in the fall, came off the bike sometime before it got to the bottom, and was found on a more gentle slope higher up the hill.

The injured man was put into a special vacuum mattress, a whole body splint, before being carried to where he could be collected by an air ambulance.

The air ambulance, which had been on its way to collect the schoolgirl, was diverted to the quad bike rider and took him to hospital, while a second one was dispatched to collect the girl.

The ten year old schoolgirl, who had been on an outdoor education residential visit, was reported to have fainted at 2.10pm, while walking below the Ingleborough to Little Ingleborough path.

After fainting for the second time, a CRO team drove to the bottom of Trow Gill before waking the 2km to the party, before bringing her back to Gaping Gill by Stretcher. An air ambulance took her to Clapham, for handing over to local paramedics in a road ambulance.
