A FASHION show, hosted by Embsay with Eastby Women’s Institute and held at Embsay Village Hall, proved a great success.

Supported by other WIs from the area and attracting visitors from surrounding villages, the event was not only well attended, but raised almost £500 for the WI group.

Bev Haspell, Embsay with Eastby WI member,

said: "We approached Harriet’s Fashion Boutique in Otley and the family run business was only too delighted to present clothing and accessories for our fashion show.”

The models, all volunteers from the WI, visited the shop a week before the event and had great fun choosing their outfits.

Before the show, visitors received a complimentary glass of wine or soft drink and home made canapés, and enjoyed the raffle.

Jane Thompson, who runs the family business, compered the fashion show, and afterwards, guests were able to try on and buy the clothes, with ten per cent of the proceeds going to the WI.

Barbara Worthington, WI president, said : “There was a good age range represented at this social evening and there was a real sense of community. Embsay with Eastby WI raised nearly £500 and I would like to thank everyone who helped to make the evening such a success."
