KILDWICK Primary School pupils travelled across the Aire valley to visit their local library.

The children spent time at Cross Hills Library as part of their plan to promote a love of reading.

All 124 pupils are now enrolled at the library and each class spent time exploring the available books.

Julie Lonsdale, a community library volunteer, read to the children.

Head Tim Whitehead said: β€œIt is important that we make use and support such a wonderful local facility. We hope that children and their families will continue to visit!”

Mr Whitehead wanted to thank Julie Lonsdale for organising the event.

The library was formerly run by North Yorkshire County Council but is now managed and operated by volunteers working in partnership with the council.

According to the council website, the library is open on Mondays and Fridays from 2pm to 7pm, Wednesdays from 10am to 1pm, Thursdays 2pm to 5pm, and Saturdays 10am to noon. The library is closed on Tuesdays and Sundays.
