THE BODY of a man was found this morning at a layby on the Aire Valley Road.

Police said they were were called to a layby on the A629 at Steeton at about 11.55am after the body was found.

A police spokesman said the male, who is believed to be in his sixties, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“Enquiries are continuing, but his death is not believed to be suspicious.”

Police remain at the layby this afternoon.

The layby is on the A629 between the Kildwick and Steeton/Silsden roundabouts, in the direction of Keighley, about a quarter of a mile from the Steeton roundabout.

Three police vehicles with lights flashing remained at the scene of the incident this afternoon, and one lane of the road was cordoned off for the length of the layby, reducing the road to single-line traffic.

A driverless lorry lay within the cordon.
