GLUSBURN children ‘kick-started’ Anti-Bullying Week by wearing odd socks to school.

Odd Socks Day gave children a heely-good chance to express themselves and appreciate individuality.

The pupils of Glusburn Community Primary School then dipped their toes into a whole week of work to raise awareness of bullying.

The school sold wristbands and rulers created by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, which organised the week.

This year’s theme was “All different. All equal.”, and at Glusburn there was also a special assembly, competitions, and lessons celebrating individuality.

One aim of the week was to empower children and young people to celebrate what made them and others unique.

The event helped people and young people to understand how important it was that every child felt valued and included in school, and able to be themselves without fear of bullying.

Parents and carers were encouraged to work with their school and talk to their children about bullying, difference and equality.
