EIGHTEEN local charities have received a boost from Skipton Gala after organisers shared out a total of £3,000 between them.
The 2017 Rosebud Queen, 11-year-old Rosie Marren and Gala committee chairman Geoff Dunn gave cheques to charities representatives during a presentation evening held at the Rendezvous Hotel in Skipton.
The recipients were: Friends of Aireville Park, Skipton Dance Crew, Skipton Young Carers, Craven Mental Health Forum, Carers Resource, Skipton Community Orchestra, Skipton Cricket Club, Skipton Town Football Club, Skipton and Craven Parents Group, St Andrew’s Playgroup, Embsay with Eastby Pre-school Playgroup, Elite Karate Centre, Greatwood Primary School, 5th Skipton Scout Group, District Explorer Scouts, Skipton Athletics Developments, Skipton Junior Firefighters and Trinity Methodist Church.
Tis year's gala was held in June, and committee members say they are already on the lookout for more volunteers for next year's event, which is on Saturday, June 9. More information is available by email at: info@skiptongala.org.uk
