SCHOOLS, nurseries and playgroups from across Craven took part in a variety of activities to raise money for Children in Need.

Sutton-in-Craven Community Primary School raised nearly £900 for the charity by holding the following events: I'm a Teacher Get Me Out of Here, penalty shootout and bun sale. Children also were invited to come dressed as who they want to be when they grow up.

"We raised £880 and still counting," said headteacher Fiona Beetles. "Our staff and children are amazing."

Throughout the week, children at Greatwood Primary School in Skipton collected money in different ways for Children in Need.

Organised by the Year 6 School Council members, the school held a Name The Teddy competition, a Famous Baby competition, a bake sale and a yellow raffle.

The children and staff then made donations to come to school in non-uniform, with some wearing their pyjamas.

The school raised a total of £570 for the charity.

At Silsden Primary School, pupils wore yellow or spotty clothing and gave donations, raising a total of £661.

Children and staff at Boyle and Petyt Primary School raised £202 for Children in Need.

In addition to wearing spots and taking part in classroom activities, Boyle and Petyt pupils held a baking competition, which was by judged by Mrs Blackburn, of Buffers Coffee Shop, Bolton Abbey.

At West Craven High School in Barnoldswick, Children in Need activities included a cake sale, face painting and a penalty shootout, raising a total of £983.

Students also showed their support for the cause by wearing Pudsey clothing.

Louise Shaw, childcare manager at Brougham Street Nursery in Skipton, said children, parents and staff raised a total of £500 for Children in Need by holding a duck race, cake stall, raffle and a craft morning, which was jointly organised by Skipton Children's Centre.

The staff and children at Embsay with Eastby Pre-School Playgroup and Out of School Club dressed in pyjamas all week and raised over £60 for Children in Need by selling home-made cakes and ducks for the Children In Need duck race.
